Geocaching for everyone
Geocaching is a treasure hunt using a GPS and was first introduced to Ille-et-Vilaine last year by the Tourist Board of Upper Brittany Ille-et-Vilaine. There are now lots of caches (treasure) in both famous and less well-known places of interest which make a fun outing with family or friends.
There are about twenty caches in all listed on the website www.tresorsdehautebretagne.fr . The treasures are hidden all over the department in woodland, by the sea, along footpaths and there is even one actually in the sea! A cache for people with reduced mobility
The Tourist Board of Upper Brittany Ille-et-Vilaine is pleased to present its first GPS treasure hunt for people with reduced mobility. On the initiative of the Office de Tourisme du Pays de Montfort en Brocéliande, which has the seal of approval ‘Tourisme et Handicap’, an easily accessible cache has been created and will be inaugurated on National ‘Tourisme & Handicap’ Day on 27th March.
If you would like details on how to find this new cache, go to: Accessible cache in Montfort-sur-Meu
Although the ‘Tourisme et Handicap’ label doesn’t cover geocaching, more and more goecachers are setting up ‘Grade 1’ caches, which are, by definition, accessible for people with reduced mobility.
A great idea !
This is just the first of a series of accessible caches for people of reduced mobility, to enable them to join in the fun of discovering geocaching and of course our beautiful département of Ille-et-Vilaine.
A big thank you to the Office de Tourisme du Pays de Montfort en Brocéliande for this great initiative and their enthusiasm ! Well done ! There are now 4 caches to find in the Montfort area.
Don’t hesitate to ring the Office de Tourisme on 02-99-09-06-50 to book a GPS and have a try at a modern-day treasure hunt.
